Super Mario Galaxy Film Trailer Arrives, Unveiling Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Voices
Nintendo and Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie on Wednesday. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that highlighted the upcoming animated film.
Following up on the 2023 blockbuster The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this fresh entry will send Mario to the outer limits of the cosmos. There, he will encounter a new princess and a formidable new rival in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.
A Cosmic Adventure Inspired by Classic Games
Similar to the Wii console classics that provide its foundation, Mario will leave behind the familiar comforts of the Mushroom Kingdom to travel across the galaxy. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a breakout star from the original cinematic release.
However, it seems Mario and his sibling Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's furious offspring, who seemingly commands metallic abilities. Notably, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not exclusively centered on visuals from the Galaxy games; it also includes nods to further iconic releases like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.
All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers
The movie will welcome back of the original voice cast, including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.
New additions to the ensemble for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will portray Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to embody Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by the CEO of Illumination, Chris Meledandri.
A Big Year for Mario
The new Mario movie is scheduled to arrive near the 40-year celebration of the first Super Mario Bros. title. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 looks set to be a significant year for Mario and his companions.
Nintendo confirmed three new games already confirmed for that year, including Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a latest Yoshi adventure game titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.
Release Date Confirmed
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is planned for launch on April 3, 2026.
